I've been coming to Hollywood with my dad since I was a child. I remember back then I would always get a gingerbread man, warm memories. Well there may no longer be Gingerbread men, but I'm no longer 6 either. Some years back, Sam and his family bought the place from the original owners and made exactly the changes the place needed- which is absolutely no changes. The quality of food is still the same, they make the biggest western sandwich you can get around here, the doughnuts are fresh baked and they're always fantastic. The coffee isn't bad either for a family doughnut shop. Sam and his family are super friendly, they take good care of their regulars, the energy here is very much like an old school diner, always welcoming and always pleasant. Now I sometimes take my own daughter here. I hope one day she can remember Hollywood warmly as well.
Amazing place been coming here since 10 years ago and I just love how fresh and delicious their donut tastes compared to other places I have tried like Tim hortons and Krispy Kreme I honestly would say go support our local business!!!
If you want to taste what a lack of passion in somones work is like, visit Hollywood donuts. I went 12:30 on a Saturday afternoon to mostly empty shelves, save for 4 donuts and a few other items. I got 2 donuts that were stale and mostly flavourless. Worst donut I have ever had. The quality is much worse than the 3.9stars would lead you to believe and the donuts were $2.25 each, roughly. Which is way too costly for the lack of quality and flavour
I’m seriously impressed. The baked goods are so fresh, you can taste the difference right away. And don’t even get me started on the apple fritters, easily some of the best I’ve ever had. The vibe in the shop was super welcoming too. The staff were all really friendly and made me feel right at home. You can tell they really care about what they do. Definitely worth a visit.
I read other reviews, so I went early morning, around 8:30am. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and welcoming. They had a fair selection available. There is no point in them making 20 different kinds and they don't sell. They make what their customers like, so I appreciate that. I found their donuts more on the dense side, more of an old fashioned donut style. I prefer light and fluffy. The price was $10.75 for 6 and $18 something for 12 (November 2024) it was a little weird that a fritter or dutchie was considered "specialty" and had to be purchased individually. It's unlikely I will go back but they do have their regular customers and I wish them all the best.
Great donuts but they are made once in the morning and are gone by 10 am. So come early. they taste awesome and price is fair and the service is amazing.
This place was a great place before COVID, with the previous owners. Now, it closes at 5. It's a donut store it should stay open longer than that, and they always have nothing left. On many occasions, I have come in on a Saturday at 2 pm and nothing is left. There is still 3 hours left of being open and nothing is left. Ridiculous!! When you call to voice your views, the owner has nothing but excuses. Very disappointing!! The previous owners were open until 7 and always offered 1/2 priced donuts 1 hr before closing. So disheartening!!!?
