Similar to other reviews on here, the customer service is terrible. I tried to buy chocolate on Aug 30, 2025. One of the packs I picked up was expiring on Aug 31, 2025 and the other one had already expired in June 2025. I told the shopkeepers that they have expired products. Both of them completely lost it and called me rude instead. I also showed him the products with the expiry dates and he acted like I was over reacting. Well, if I am paying 8$ for chocolate, I would like it to not expire the next day but that's just me I guess.
I visited your store last fall with my mom, she is Irish and was very impressed with your selection of chocolate, candy and food. I was looking at your cardigans and would have purchased one but the sales girl told us there was no mirror to see how it looked. You do not have a good return policy so wanted to see what it looked like on me before purchasing. My mom & I went back today, thinking surely the store has gotten a mirror by now! Nope! Still no mirror! The sales lady was not helpful at all and really unfriendly. We were polite to her but she seemed to be very grumpy. I will spend my $ at a different British shop since you don't seem like you care whether you make a sale or not.
This shop is located in Ajax, Ontario and they have a wide variety of English confectionery.. delicious English Cadburys, Cookies and biscuits...spreads..etc. They even carry lovely clothing etc. I missed having Mark's and Spencer here in Canada. This is why I love shopping at this store ...The British Isles Shoppe...
Great little store, lots of selection of clothing. The lack of a change room (I used back employmee room for trying on kilts) and poor website is the reason for the lower rating. Friendly staff - yup Cleanliness - yup Assortment of stock - yup
Soooo delighted that we discovered this shop. We came here by chance after returning from Portly Piper in hopes of watching Champions League, which was not being shown there. The game had already started and my son was following up on the game updates through his phone. That's when we quickly decided to step in the shop to browse. And We Thank Our Stars That We Did!! The sweeeeeetest lady here not just helped us choose which soccer souvenirs to buy as a gift as I was completely clueless, but she was also so kind and thoughtful enough that she took her precious time out to help my son on where to watch "Champion's League" Finals, that he was so desperate to watch live. She totally made our day!!!!!! And the decently priced soccer collections, milky british chocolates were a delightful cherry on top. Her kindness has gone a long way, and we thoroughly enjoyed our shopping trip here and will be shopping here again soon!!!
I was treated well the first time I went in. I dealt with an older couple from the old country and they were helpful and and friendly. Unfortunately, when I called with questions about my purchases I was treated quite rudely and hung up on for no apparent reason by some woman named ''Dooley''. No matter, there are dozens of shops that sell the same merchandise and I will take my questions, money and business to them. Saddest part.....I am one of their own! Perhaps the owner should look into how his customers are treated when calling or visiting. I was nothing but polite but that was not returned.
Nice selection of jewellery and clothing and the staff were friendly and helpful but they didn't have items I consider staples like Devonshire cream and cookies in tins.
