I want to say thanks to Rob and William. My car actually stalled as I was pulling into the parking lot and it had been running great with no issues before that. I was down from the Barrie area and didn't know if I would make it back home with the car the way it was. Rob and William did the scan thing and replaced a part and got me going in about an hour. I was impressed, no high pressure sales tactics either. Thanks so much, God bless!
Took my ford f150 in to get my transmission rebuilt by rob I got the truck back almost a month later with a pretty bad transmission leak it didn't have before. I told rob about it immediately and he took the truck back about 3 times without being able to find the leak. Finally he says the casing must be cracked and needs to be replaced he also said he'll charge me for the case but no labour I thought that was fair so I dropped the truck off to him for a fourth time he had it for another week then one evening he calls me and tells me the truck is all done and I owe him $600. I go to pick up the truck and it was still on the hoist it looked like they just finished filling the transmission. Before I took the truck in I made 3 deep scratches into the case of the transmission. When I walked under the truck to see the new transmission casing I was shocked to see the scratches I had previously made in it. he really tried to pull a fast one on me and basically steal 600 dollars from me. When I asked him about it and showed him the marks I made he started getting nervous and blaming everyone but himself. Rob is not a good person he may come off as friendly but don't be fooled he is a crook and a liar stay far away from this shop every single transmission he rebuilds is done with used parts
I’m sorry to write this review because I really didn’t want to write this and wanted it to be resolved but I feel like I have to be honest about what happened. I’m super grateful for Rob and his shop, my car broke down on my way home around New years and I left my car with them and we communicated over the phone as I lived 2 hours away. Rob was really nice and mentioned all my options and the price, even did a full check up on the car as it was a recent purchase for me. While my car was in his shop I had absolutely no problem. The only problem I had was getting a receipt. The total was texted to me (which at the time seemed fine with me because I just wanted my car fixed) I later realized and was told that I should have gotten an official piece of paper or document. And when I came to pick up my car (which did work), I was told I would be e-mailed a copy of my receipt (which I didn’t get), I contacted them 2 months later to ask if they could send it because I hadn’t gotten it or didn’t see it. Then I contacted them again a month later asking for it (I was told the transmission part was under warranty for 2 years and wanted the paper that said that because my mechanic told me he thought the transmission would give out within a year). I mentioned a picture was okay, or that they could text it to me. I gave them my email again but still nothing, I contacted them another 2 times but haven’t gotten a reply or a receipt. It’s kind of disappointing, everything was great until the end. So I’d just recommend asking for a receipt before leaving.
Shift Works Transmissions was recommended to me in the past, and I've been to them several times. Super fair prices, and I found the work that they do is bang on! They've done a full transmission for me on my Toyota Celica, and I went back about 10 yrs later for a Clutch Replacement and found the same guys there. Can't say the same for many other shops out there.
Work is top notch I don't leave my car to nobody but I have total trust in shift works never had bad experience with these guys I'll always use shift works thanks guys for all you do
Better name for this business would be "Shifty Works" If zero stars was an option I would have chosen it. I put my classic muscle car in for a slipping transmission. They claimed my new torque converter went bad and sent metal into the transmission. Upon later inspection, the torque converter was in perfect condition. A week later they said the transmission was rebuilt and ready to go. It did not last 30 mins. on the drive home before it began slipping gears again. I returned the car and it sat in their shop for month. When I picked it up, the interior had rat droppings in it, and the hood was damaged. Again the transmission lasted only 30 mins. on the hi-way before slipping gears again. My friend put his car in at the same time and it was returned with paint damage that cost him $1000 to repair. I had to take my transmission to another shop, and spend another $1300, to have it properly rebuilt. No issues since then.
I wish I could rate zero stars. My boyfriend brought his transmission here to be rebuilt. But half the work was already done as my boyfriend had started and realized he didn’t have one of the tools he needed. The transmission ended up sitting there for a month not being touched once. They kept ignoring his calls and then when he’d show up to see what was happening it was “going to be done in a day or two”. So after weeks of hearing it I went into the shop with him today to see what was up and as soon as Rob saw my boyfriend he ran to the back and sent out one of his employees to say sorry and that it will be done 2-3 days. We took the transmission and are bringing it to another shop because the job could be done in less than a day. Super unprofessional and as a car person with lots of car friends in the Durham region, I will be warning people of this place and NEVER recommend it.
