Great service and great food! I visited Portly Piper the other night and almost forgot how much I loved this place. The service is amazing, really friendly staff. Food is fantastic AND affordable. I can't rave enough about their wonderful wings, Feta Bruschetta, Pad Thai...everything is good. Not just your average pub food but spectacular pub food plus!
My weekend warrior friends and I have made this our go to place to unwind and grab a bite to eat after we play (or should I say attempt to play) the sport we have been playing for the last 30+ years. We find the food very good, the prices quite reasonable and the service almost always above average. We're always greeted with a smile and the servers are always glad to accommodate any questions and are usually easy to talk to and personable. It is no surprise that it can get busy at times. We usually beat the dinner rush as we try to get there by 4:30 - 5pm, if you get the opportunity I would definitely suggest checking them out!!
Great pub with a great atmosphere. The food is really good especially their friend and gravy. They say their Wong's are great but I found them a bit dry so can't recommend them. The place however is awesome as TV's everywhere even one per table which is super cool. If you want to watch sports this is the place for you. Has an older crowd so depends on your age.
How does this place have a 4.4 rating and supposedly ranked as one of Ajaxs best restaurants? Started off being seated of course. The girl throws a menu in front of me as Im sitting down; she was gone by the time I sat down & raised my head. When I got served I wondered how they possibly served my fish & chips so fast. I quickly realized how/why. If you ever want to judge a restaurant, you always order their fish & chips. Batter was raw and pasty on the inside, the fish smelled and tasted like whey protein. The fries were okay but pretty pathetic for a fish & chips restaurant (I realize I was eating at a pub). They were the skinny crusty kind youd get at a high school cafeteria. I expect thick cut fries when ordering fish & chips (preferably hand cut), not skinny (probably frozen) fries that a student would get in a high school cafeteria. On the plus side, the place has plenty of TVs and generally has a nice atmosphere. Also, my server was very professional and polite.
